Let Me Ruin Your Evening

Here's a mix tape I made for you that is all songs from movies. I have seen some of them and I have not seen some of them. The sound quality varies pretty wildly on this, as it is a compilation of things I "found" online as well as stuff sourced from CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD and VHS by me. None of it has enough "mp3 wobble" to render it unlistenable, though. I usually don't post track lists for my mix tapes in advance, but since the artist and title listing of this one doesn't always identify the movie, I'll just leave this here:

01: "Baby Lied" - Rick Bowles (Neon Maniacs)
02: "Holly's New Room" - Carlo Maria Cordio (Troll 2)
03: "Tall Man on Main Street" - Fred Myrow & Malcolm Seagrave (Phantasm)
04: "Escape Invasion" - John Harrison (Day of the Dead)
05: "Megaforce" - 707 (Megaforce)
06: "Chase" - Giorgio Moroder (Midnight Express)
07: "Training Montage" - Vince DiCola (Rocky IV)
08: "Sully Runs" - James Horner (Commando)
09: "Thrashin'" - Meat Loaf (Thrashin')
10: "Punk Parade" - Alex Gibson (Suburbia)
11: "Retribution Opening" - Alan Howarth (Retribution)
12: "The 4 Monsters Attack Tokyo" - Akira Ifukube (Destroy All Monsters)
13: "Furious Waves" - Jon McCallum (Surf Nazis Must Die)
14: "Kumite" - Paul Hertzog (Bloodsport)
15: "Il Purgatorio" - Nino Oliviero & Riz Ortolani (Mondo Cane)
16: "Main Title" - Vic Mizzy (The Ghost & Mr. Chicken)
17: "Disco Hits!" - David Byrne (True Stories)
18: "Best of the Best" - Stubblefield & Hall (Best of the Best)
19: "Bus Chase / Cocaine" - Harold Faltermeyer (Tango & Cash)
20: "Stand on Your Own" - Paul Gilreath (No Retreat No Surrender)
21: "Fight Fire With Fire" - Eddie Ray Wolfe (American Ninja 4)
22: "Dunwich Horror - Main Title" - Les Baxter (The Dunwich Horror)
23: "Dead Body" - Michael Kamen (Die Hard)
24: "Love Theme From 'Logan's Run'" - Jerry Goldsmith (Logan's Run)
25: "Main Title" - Basil Poledouris (Red Dawn)
26: "Something to Remember Me By" - Tangerine Dream (Three O' Clock High)
27: "Thunder In Your Heart" - John Farnham (Rad)

Go get it!

Keep Right On to the End of the Road: 30 Songs For the End of Summer.

I was driving back from my mom's house and thinking about all the songs I knew about driving, roads, travel and stuff like that. I thought it might be a good idea to throw some of those together and make a CD that I could play in the car while I was, you know, driving and stuff. So I did. Look, I'm not going to pretend that I didn't just search my hard drive for files with "road" in the name or whatever, because that's what I did. But give me a little credit. There was a bit more curating done than just that. I had to narrow it down to thirty. And I did. And I think it is pretty good. Sure, lots of these aren't literally about travel, but it's still a thing you may want to hear. So I'm sharing it with you.

Here it is.

Every Creeping Thing That Creepeth Upon The Earth Shall Be An Abomination

Hey! Remember the last thing I posted that said "the next post I make will most likely be another dumb mix tape I made for you"?

Well here it is!

I'll be honest with you...most of the people who even know this "blog" exists are people I know in real life, and most of the people I know in real life could not care less about the music on this thing (except Killick, who is actually on this mix tape...twice), but I don't give a shit. Here's a bunch of metal and noise and weird folk-whatever stuff and also some monks chanting. You probably won't listen to it, but I'd be really interested to hear what you think if you do.

Get it!

Which Way Did My Donkey Go?

Hey! I made you guys another mix tape. Nothing on here's really going to blow you away with its obscurity and besides, the internet has sort of made the concept of obscurity old news anyway. This is just a bunch of junk I've been cramming onto my ear-holes lately. Including, but not limited to:
*Tommy Boyce (but not Bobby Hart)
*Songs you probably know pretty well but live recordings of those songs
*Music from the soundtrack of the movies Two Thousand Maniacs! and American Ninja 4
*A non-polka Weird Al song
*A bunch of stuff that I think I've probably put on these compilations before
*My favorite ELO song
And oh, so very much more.

Here's your download link!

As always, feedback in the comments is appreciated, but not required.

Something Good Is Gonna Happen - January 2010 Mix Tape

I made you another mix tape. You guys are so lucky. There's a surprisingly high number of Jamaican pop songs on here. I guess I was carried away by the Island Riddims. Or something. There's also a Monkees demo, a Charlie Feathers demo, Public Image, Ltd, a song about Frankenstein and more stuff that will increase the quantity of awesome in your day.

Hey, leave a comment, why don't you, and let me know if I should keep this up. There are quite possibly plans for something similar to my Internet Music and Talking Program but involving an actual other human. fIREHOSE taught us that "everything ain't just two dudes talkin'", but this may be just exactly that thing. I will let you know.

Meanwhile, please tell me what you think of this collection of songs, won't you?

Here are the words you click on to download this.

Here is an awesome mix tape I made for you...

Happy Winter-Time festivities to you. I made you a gift. It is a mix tape. There's some good times on here. What kind of good times? How about this collection of gems:

*A visit with three of the four members of Poison! (Bassist Bobby Dall apparently could not be bothered...)
*Singing wrestlers!
*Patriotism viewed through the lens of The Waffle House!
*Ham-fisted, unfunny, anti-Vietnam War political satire!
*A song by some rodents (not The Chipmunks) about how they also like reggae!
*A terrible rendition of "Louie Louie"!
*Robert Mitchum!
*An Oak Ridge Boys cover that can help you lose weight!
*A singer with a stuffed-up nose literally begging for death!
*A love song sung to a hog!

Oh, man, you already love this and you haven't even heard it yet! So, if you're already sick of "Jingle Bell Rock" and "Hey, Santa", this ought to make things a little better! Leave a comment and let me know which song is your favorite!

Summer's Gone...Summer's Over.

I made you another mix tape. You'll like this one. It might make you sad a little, but it'll do a better job making you happy. Just like life. Or something. Whatever, it's just 27 songs crammed together for you to listen to. You might actually be glad you did.

Click here to download the mix tape I made for you.

Oh, and dudes, if you download it, please leave a comment so Ill know whether or not I should do this sort of thing again or just make them and put them on CDs for myself to listen to while I drive to Kroger or whatever.

Thanks!

30 Songs for Summer

Hey, guys. Here are some songs I have been listening to lately. It's nothing rare or hard-to-find really. It's just a bunch of stuff that you may or may not have heard and that I hope you will like. I'm not posting a track list, but you'll get one if you download the file. There is some Serge Gainsbourg on here. And some Ronnie James Dio. And some Gino Washington. And...you know what? It's just 100% awesome. Thanks for reading my bullshit, dudes. I will put more records up as soon as I move back into my living room. I love all 5 of you!
